2020 Porsche Macan Release Date

The highly anticipated 2020 Porsche Macan is coming soon! The 2020 Porsche Macan and Macan S are set to be released in mid-2019, followed by the 2020 Macan Turbo and Turbo S. It is also rumored that the 2020 Macan will be the next Porsche model to get a GT3 edition. The 2020 Porsche Macan has been named the “second-generation” of the Porsche crossover, so we can expect some significant changes to take place. While we may not know the exact release date at this time, we do know quite a lot about the new Macan’s looks, performance, and pricing.

The New Macan’s New Look

The 2020 Porsche Macan is getting a slightly different look for its exterior, interior, and performance. Let’s start by taking a look at the exterior changes that are taking place. First, the new Macan is getting a face lift with a new front fascia, headlamps, revised air vents, and a larger apron. A lot of the front end styling for the new Macan looks like the Porsche 911, which makes perfect sense because the 911 is the most iconic, most recognizable Porsche. The headlights feature a four-point LED lighting pattern and they will come standard on every trim level of the Macan. The changes to the front fascia and bumper make the new Macan look sportier, as well.

The 2020 Macan will also get new taillights to match their new headlights. The same four-point LED lighting pattern can be found on the back of the Macan, and a new LED strip now runs all the way across the tailgate with Porsche lettering. Again, this styling is similar to the 911. You can also see very minor changes in the rear bumper and exhaust styling. The most notable updates coming to the new Macan’s exterior are most likely the four new color options, window/door trim options, and optional carbon fiber mirror caps. The new exterior colors are called Miami Blue, Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, and Crayon. Customers will also have the option to add black window trim or a black trim piece on the lower portion of the doors (shown below). The last exterior change for the new 2020 Porsche Macan is the option to choose from a new selection of wheels in 20 and 21-inch variations. All of these changes make the 2020 Macan look sportier, wider, more aggressive, and generally look more like a Porsche than ever before.

Upgraded Interior to Match

Porsche couldn’t neglect the interior of the new Macan with all of the exterior styling updates. The majority of the controls in the cockpit have had slight changes. The touchscreen infotainment display is now 4-inches bigger than the previous version at 10.9-inches. The center stack around the gearshift has been simplified and cleaned-up as a result of an improved Porsche Communication Management system (PCM). The improved PCM allowed Porsche to remove some controls from the steering and center stack because now the driver has more control over voice commands and online navigation. All the interior upgrades do not stop at looks and ergonomics. The upgrades continue with standard and optional driver assist features and equipment such as Traffic Jam Assist, an ionizer in the cabin, a heated windshield, and GT steering wheel.

More Than Just Good Looks for the Macan

So the new 2020 Porsche Macan looks better but does it perform better? The short answer is “Yes.” The long answer includes improvements to the drivetrain, suspension, braking systems, and more. The base model 2020 Macan will feature a turbocharged, inline 4-cylinder engine that makes 248 horsepower. Even though this is slightly less power for the base Macan than before, the fuel economy will be improved, which was the goal with the base model. The Macan S will come with a turbocharged, 6-cylinder engine that makes 348 horsepower. The new Macan S makes about 15 more horsepower and about 15 more lb-ft of torque than last year’s model. The handling of the Macan should be greatly improved with the new suspension improvements. The Macan will come with the Porsche Active Stability Management active damper control system, adjustable air suspension, sway bars, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus. All new Macan models will come standard with all-wheel drive, another change from the previous model year. Pricing on the Porsche website currently stands at a starting price of $49,900 for the base Macan, and $58,600 for the Macan S. Even though this could change slightly, this is still excellent pricing considering the improvements. Overall, the new Macan will perform better, handle better, and the base model will even get better fuel economy. (Porsche USATopSpeed.com, CarReleasePreview.com)
